The Unfinished Temple

A Catholic perspective on The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

On the third of August, 1831, Joseph Smith Jr. consecrated a field in Missouri for the first temple of the Dispensation of the Fulness of Times. The field is still empty; that temple was never built.

The temple is the center of worship for God's people. After God led Israel out of Egypt, He commanded them to build and Ark, and to construct a Tabernacle to house it.Later, King David asked God for permission to build a house for the Ark. God allowed David's son Solomon to build a house for it.Around 600 B.C., the Babylonians destroyed Solomon's temple, and the Ark disappeared from history. But the Ark has been restored. Jesus Christ Himself restored the Ark 2,000 years ago, when He built His temple. Most Christians do not know this story, and sadly many Catholics also do not know the treasure they possess. When I discovered that the Catholic Church was in possession of the Ark of the New Covenant, I began to attend a Catholic parish instead of a Mormon Ward, but I never lost my faith: I found its fulfillment.I invite you to learn of the Ark. It belongs in the center of each temple that has been built by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Until the Ark is restored to the LDS temple, The Restoration, will remain incomplete.
